1970 - The national Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation was founded by concerned parents of children with cancer, such as Grace Monaco

1985 - Candlelighters of Tucson was formed and directed by parents of children with cancer. The first meeting was at a pancake house on Grant Road, where they made arrangements to put on their first camp.

2005 - We re-incorporated under the name Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Southern Arizona, to reflect an expansion of our services

Candlelighters Facts:

• We are a 501(c)(3) charity
• We are an affiliate of the national Candlelighters office in Washington DC, which was founded by concerned parents of children with cancer in 1970
• We serve the entire family - siblings and parents too
• We have offered a camp for children with cancer in Southern Arizona every year since 1985
